Calling All Climbers: Help Us Find the Perfect Spot for the Outdoor Climbing Wall!
Share Your Ideas for Potential Locations
Dear friends of roped climbing!
After an exciting and very encouraging conversation with members of the Cambridge city council last week, we are now looking deeper into potential locations for our dear future climbing wall. The top candidate at the moment is Coldham’s Common, close to the Abbey Leisure Complex. It is embedded in plenty of green space, has existing sports facilities and other amenities close-by.
However, we are collecting a list of further potential sites which we want to hand to the council’s planning team for evaluation.
That’s why we need your help! 😊
Please leave your ideas in the following form if you can think of a great site for a freestanding outdoor climbing wall.
Our basic requirements are:
proximity to amenities such as public toilets, drinking water, parking space, storage space would be ideal
ideally within a green open space
access for a scissor lift
the possibility to build to 15m+ height
Even if you are not sure whether your location in mind would meet all those requirements, feel free to send your suggestions and the council will help us with all the necessary planning considerations.
The project is progressing, and we are grateful for your support. We look forward to receiving your suggestions!
Happy climbing,
Marie from The Cambridge Arch Project
Coldhams sounds like a great location! Don't have any other suggestions that a better at this stage.
